Deano’s Favorite Artists

Favorite Artists Of All Time

  1. The Beatles – Absolutely no better band!  Absolutely no better songwriters!  Over the course of 7 years, they produced an incredibly diverse set of albums and changed music.
  2. Orbital – Most people I know have never even heard of this band (made up of two brothers).  They are missing out.  The music these guys produced was complex, smart, and magnificent.  If I could wear glasses with little headlights on them like these guys wore on stage all day every day I would.
  3. Deadmau5 – I’ve probably ridden 2,000+ mile on my bike just listening to this guy.  He is an electronic genius pure and simple.  Plus, he wears a giant electronic mouse head (kind of like Orbital’s glasses).  If I could wear one of those all day too I would.
  4. Depeche Mode – This was the first ‘electronic music’ I was ever exposed to.  The Violator album is probably my favorite album of all time.  When I went back and listened to their older music it was fascinating.  I wish I had discovered them earlier!  The years they were teamed up with The Flood as their producer (my favorite producer of all time) was some of the best music ever!
  5. Beastie Boys – Every album they put out was better than the last.  They were not like all the other rap/hip-hop acts I’d listened to all my life.  They were truly creative and evolved over the years more than any of the other acts.  I liken these guys to The Beatles…except in the rap genre.
  6. Gorillaz – Who are these guys anyway?!?  Their music is hard to describe at times and I don’t think there is anything else like it out there.  I like that combination.
  7. Royksopp – I’m not sure what it is about this band but I feel like crying whenever I listen to them.  Not because I’m sad but because their music is so good.  That has to count for something.  Right?!?!
  8. Don Williams – When I retire, I am going to buy an old pickup truck, a farm and I’m going to leave the house every morning to build fences.  I will listen to Don Williams exclusively.  The most awesome voice in all of country music!
  9. Dr Dre – I don’t think any hip-hop/rap music that doesn’t have Dr. Dre affiliated with it is worth a hoot.  This guy could make the alphabet song awesome!  From NWA on up everything he has touched has been playing on my eardrums!
  10. Nine Inch Nails – Industrial, metal, synthesizers, just enough guitar, and enough evil mixed in to keep things interesting. Trent Reznor, for me, is the equivalent of Mozart/Beethoven of our age.
  11. Radiohead – Not for everyone, but I believe the albums they put out (when they came out) were some of that last great albums (what are those anyway?!?) released.
  12. Com Truise – Head bobbing, groovy electronic music with huge bass. Yes please! I could stand and listen to this guy play live for hours upon hours.
  13. Linkin Park – Head banging, metal with plenty of synthesizer, dj tables, hip hop, and electronica. This nu metal band brings the noise and is my favorite “guitar band” (if you can even call them that).
  14. Pink Floyd – When I want to sit down and listen to a full album this is the band I do it with. Most of their songs are like journeys and their albums are some of my favorites.
  15. Prince – Probably my favorite musician on the list. He could seemingly play any instrument (and could play the hell out of a guitar). If I had to pick one album out of all albums Purple Rain would be my choice. Also, he was a movie star (Purple Rain) who was probably one of the greatest actors of all time (?!?!). Also, without him we wouldn’t have the funniest Dave Chappelle skit of all time.
