Trees down…check. Logs cut into rounds…check. Time for splitting. I’d never done it before, but I decided to try to conquer them by hand. I immediately regretted this as the ax hit the center of the first round. After learning some quick lessons and getting my skills up to speed I finished my first round. It was an excellent workout. Now I get to rinse and repeat it for many, many, many hours! At this point, it looks like I’ll be splitting firewood for the rest of my days on this earth! #DeanoFarms

I like to use a maul. Also make sure the rounds are dry, best to wait until you see visible cracks on the ends. Otherwise your axe/maul will just bounce off.
