I gave blood last Friday for the first time in my life. I’ll be doing this every 60 days until my Ferritin level gets to where I want it (and if all goes well will continue with this win-win activity).

There are a few books you read and when you are done you think…

I’ve had Dumping Iron by P. D. Mangan (a guy I found on Twitter) on my reading list for a long time. Christopher Smith (another guy I found on Twitter) recently prompted me to move it to the top of my list. I should have done this long ago.

Regardless, I didn’t even finish it before I:
1) got a ferritin test, and
2) donated blood at the Red Cross (for the first time in my life).

My iron level is still way too high (251 before donation…YIKES) so I’ll be hitting the Red Cross every 60 days FOREVER!

I just finished the book. I think it might be the most important book I have ever read.
I highly recommend you read it and start donating blood immediately! It is a win-win!

I’ve been following much of Mr. Mangan’s advice for a while now and feel like things are moving in the right direction. The more closely I follow his advice the better things seem to go. He has several other books that I’ve not read and I’m adding those to my reading list.
