We went to Montgomery Bell State Park to hike and bike. The boys joined us. We biked on a few of the trails on the extensive mountain bike trail network. We hiked to all three of the lakes on the 3700-acre property. We also saw all the iron ore pits from when was mining was done on the property (which made a lot of cannonballs for the War of 1812). This state park was much more interesting than I was thinking it was going to be. The only thing I didn’t do was the long hiking loop around the entire park. It is 10 miles and looks like a good candidate for my first overnight backpacking trip (excited)!
