We started our week in east Tennesse by hiking Roan Mountain (the sixth highest peak in Tennessee). From Carver’s Gap we hiked on the Appalachian Trail to the Roan High Knob shelter. The summit of Roan High Knob (6285 ft.) was the highest point of our week. Then we headed to Cloudland Mountain (where an old hotel used to be). From there we headed on towards the rhododendron gardens (which were very creepy). We continued to follow the Cloudland Trail to the Roan High Bluff (6267 ft.). We then made our way back to Carver’s Gap via a zombie road to complete our 8-mile hike.
