On our second day in East Tennessee, we visited Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park in Elizabethton, TN. They have an exhibit, a recreated version of Fort Watauga, and a trail along the beautiful Watauga River. While in Elizabethton we also went to see the covered bridge, Carter Mansion (oldest frame house in TN), and Sabine Hill Mansion. After that, we headed to the oldest town in Tennessee, Jonesborough, TN. Emily selected this town for the hot fudge cake sundae at Old Town Dairy Barn. Regardless, we visited downtown (the entire street is on the National Register of Historic Places) and toured the Chester Inn. The quest for some good ice cream led us on an excellent adventure.
