Kayaking The Hiwassee River 1.0 (Funyaking Actually) – Reliance, TN – Hiwassee-Ocoee State Park

I got to mark something off my list that has been on it for many years with our visit to Hiwassee-Ocoee State Park near Reliance, TN. I’ve wanted to float the Hiwassee River and wrote down “Webb Brothers” many years ago. Webb Brothers is a float company that has been in business for many, many years. They are still around after all these years of being on my list! I caught the eye of one suspicious employee with my camera! I assured him I meant him no harm, that I was from the government to do some inspections. My trip almost ended at that point. Ha! Molly went with us on our first Hiwassee River float. We were all nervous because we’d never ‘funyaked’ before and the Hiwassee River is a very large river. Some locals helped us along the way and we had a blast. This was an absolutely beautiful river! PS – The 5-mile ride to the put-in area in the back of the pickup truck was much scarier than the actual river!
